This is a scale artist rendering of the Armstrong Crater (1:17,000) located near the Apollo 11 landing site and is approximately 4.6 KM wide. Unlike more distant or hidden lunar forms, Armstrong carries the weight of human arrival.
 
The piece reflects on the moment when the Moon shifted from myth and image into terrain that has been touched. This resembles a place humans reached, marked, named, and remembered. Its rough gray surface becomes both a celestial map and a record of longing: the need to cross distance, to leave evidence, and to make contact with something once thought impossible. At this larger scale, the crater becomes less like a specimen and more like a threshold. It asks the viewer to stand before the Moon not as something far away, but as a surface shaped by wonder, ambition, and the fragile presence of humanity.
